 Tommy originally joined the Betsy Layne Fire Dept. on October 15th, 1979.

He was elected as Quarter Master on March 23rd, 1981, and served in the office until June 13th, 1983.

Tommy would go inactive on July 11th, 1983, and his status remained as so until he returned to our dept. on February 5th, 1996.

On April 29th, 1996, Tommy received his Level I firefighter certification.

The 1996 Firefighter of the Year served as Captain from February 17th, 1997, until February 11th, 2008, and was elected to serve as a firefighter representative on our board of trustees on March 26th, 2007.

He obtained his Level II firefighter certification on November 2nd, 2007.

On June 28th, 2008, Tommy received a plaque from our dept. commemorating him for his many years of service to the Betsy Layne Fire Dept. where he has accumulated in excess of 1,300 fire training hours throughout his career.

On February 9th, 2009, Tommy was again elected as Captain of our fire dept.

He and his family attend Vogel-Day United Methodist Church at Harold.
