	Darren originally joined the Betsy Layne Fire Dept. on February 1st, 1988, until he went inactive on March 26th, 1990. He later returned on January 8th, 1996, and has remained until present day. Double D obtained his Level I firefighter certification on April 23rd, 1997, and his Level II firefighter certification on July 30th, 2006. He temporarily served as Secretary from March 24th, 1997, until February 23rd, 1998, and was elected for his first term as Vice President on August 25th, 1997, and served until February 12th, 2001. Darren was again elected Vice President on February 13th, 2006, and served until February 11th, 2008, at which time he was elected as President. On June 28th, 2008, Darren was awarded a service plaque for his many years and he has now accumulated an excess of 800 fire training hours with the dept. He currently serves as the fire dept's Lieutenant being appointed as so on February 22nd, 2010.
