The BLVFD is a wonderful group dedicated to the service of our community. A few years ago my house was in flames and the fire dept. saved it with tremendous effort by all the members. A first class group and a "job well done". I am so thankful for all of you.

You remember the line from the movie" There's something special about fireman, night & day their always fireman".
every time a see a big black cloud of smoke from some idiot burning brush with tires and diesel I want to throw down the gun, listen for the tones and run to grab a hose.
I still remember the breathing sound from the S.C.B.A facemask while being blindfolded and going thru the maze and then you can't breathe. NO! NO! stupid you can't jerk your face mask off. You calmly and collectively feel for your by-pass valve which is of hexagonal shape, but you know it's not going to cure what's ailing you, because in the excitment, in the middle somewhere, when you least expected it some other waterhead or a person you trust your life with, just turned your tank off. Your problem can eventually be solved, just before you pass out from lack of oxygen and wanting to reach around a grab the "tank turner-off boy" and put him in the face mask with you. You disconnect your low-pressure hose from the regulator and put it deep inside your coat and you say to yourself "Thank God they can't turn it off again".
I'm thankfull for every ounce of training, experience, fun and the friendships that still last today.

I absolutly love the new site. It makes me swell up with pride as Betsy Layne will always be my home. You guys are the best of the best! I am very proud of where I came from. The "Acadamy" as we used to call it, is a special place with very special people. I had some of the best times of my life at the BLFD and made some of the best friends one could ever want. Keep up the great work and I hope to see you guys soon.
